How to resign a game with men on the bar ?

Resignation mid game.
Is there a way of resigning a game when the ‘automated rolling’ is in operation ?
For example ; I had 2 men on the bar with my opponent having a full board block.I was not able to resign the position until such time as there was the option to enter a man from the bar on to available points.By which time I was losing the will to live, let alone continue with a totally futile position.
It is disrespectful to an opponent to just exit the site and abandon the game/match, however it is truly painful to have to sit for 5 minutes before you can legitimately resign.

Stuart Day (stupotday), I think the way to handle this is to have an option in the board settings to disable auto-roll when the cube is dead (ie. in a single point match or when you have sent the cube). I can't make this the default option because, as Denis-George Constantin (playhunter) has explained, these are not hopeless positions and most players want to play on, in which case having to constantly click the Roll button would be annoying.
I would like to warn you that so called "rage quitting" (leaving the board and letting your clock run down) is now being tracked by the system and repeat offenders risk being barred from the platform permanently. It is unacceptable behaviour as it means your opponent cannot get on an play others. Until this new option is implemented, you are expected to complete or resign your matches!

Point taken.
Didn’t take long for you to jump on that did it Alfie ? As the game I was playing was on ‘Speed clock’ anyway, and there was possibly only seconds remaining in the game I didn’t think it would matter much.A shame you’re not as diligent in picking up all the players that have done it to me.I can only assume the girl I was playing whined about it or otherwise why was it picked up so quickly ; unless I’m being unfairly targeted.

Stuart Day (stupotday) I only added the tracking this morning and was reviewing the data gathered and you were the worst offender today. I thought I would update this discussion with the long term plan and give you a friendly warning. Rest assured I'll be watching everyone, big brother style! I find this issue particularly annoying and is getting more frequent as the site grows...

Thanks for the warning, and I won’t do it again.
I’m spending more time playing on other sites now anyway ; like ‘Lord Of The Board’
The dice are less predictable and I get to win a game occasionally.
Hub is unfortunately getting to the point where I can predict the outcome of games/matches with unerring accuracy and it’s really boring ; hence the ‘rage quitting’

As long as you have at least one checker on the bar, it means you can, at some point, get a lucky hit .. and therefore you still have chances. Depending on the position and how well your home base is developed, with one checker on the bar you have between 1.3 to 3.8% and with two checkers on the bar, between 1.9 to 6.8% chances to win when your opponent have his home base fully closed.
So why resign as long as you still have some slim chance to win (unless you want to resign for 1 point when gammons matter, or want to resign for a gammon when there is also a chance for a backgammon loss)?
See the two photos attached. In the 1st photo white won the game (without ever having the chance to hit a second black checker), and in the 2nd photo black lost the game. Those two positions are situations where the favourite is over 99% sure to win the game, yet they lost. Those both happened to me within the last 9 months (I was the bottom player, in both positions). Am sure, you see my point.

Denis-George Constantin (playhunter)Thank you for your encouragement.I too have played in a live game where I lost after having my only remaining checker hit and my opponent having none off ; it can happen, but only once in my life.
However, when you are playing in a 3 point match where you have legitimately cubed your opponent in a highly advantageous position, only to be undermined by your opponent rolling 4 doubles on the bounce.Putting 2 men on to the bar, while achieving a complete and balanced closeout, I have little appetite to sit and wait for a fantasy set of circumstances.
I’d sooner resign and go to bed ; but thanks anyway.

Stuart Day (stupotday) opponent hitting your last remaining checker, is about 7% with a closed board (or 6 prime). I won and lost that way several times .. Those positions play out really fast usually, unless you play against someone who is usually playing slow all of his moves from the start of the match (in which case indeed that might be a boring match from the start, because its progress is very slow).

Stuart Day (stupotday), I can see in this situation it might be annoying, but I deliberately disabled the resign button after the roll because players were seeing the roll, seeing they could bear off a single checker and then resigning a gammon without moving (or without confirming their move) when they meant to resign a single game.
Will have another think how to handle better.
