Yes, as an option, I would not oppose. BUT that option should be used ONLY IF over 90% of participants agree to play without pips. Because I doubt there will be more than 10% people which will refuse to play in your tournament just because you don't disable the automatic pip count. - Can easily be misused !
On the other hand, I bet there will be more than 10% people which will refuse to join your tournament, just because you decided to run it with no pip count.
As for people who want not to see the pip count "just because that is closer to the real thing", without affecting their opponent's preference, well, in the settings there is an option to disable the pip count for your own view.

Isn’t one of the key points to having a visible pip count also a time issue ?
I’m certainly not experienced in online backgammon, but don’t most matches have clocks in operation ?
Even the most skilful players would take significantly longer to evaluate an accurate pip count status, than simply glancing at a clock.
Although in principal, I understand in a relaxed live game situation it is a further advantage to the more skilled player ; not me incidentally !! 😂

I prefer to have the pips counts shown in an online tournaments, but I can see how others prefer not having it, so if it's simple to implement seems like there's some upside there.

Alex Zamanian (z) what % of players do refuse to play because as of now you do offer your tournament with the pip count displayed ?
And what % of players will refuse to play in your tournament if you will offer your tournament without the pip count displayed ?
PS: But I might see a point. I guess you can offer both types of tournaments and this way offer something for all people's taste.
But I won't vote for this, as I am pretty sure it can set a wrong trend and make some TD enforce only no pips displayed tournaments.
Exactly this is the way how all tournaments are played on PlayOK - automatic pip count disabled, and also for the same reasoning "to be as closer as possible to the real thing", there if a player picked to have his home base on his right side, then his opponent will have his home base on his left side. - I believe this reasoning, for online play, is absurd.
Online / electronic play should be about making everything easier and smoother and not to borrow the cumbersomeness from the "real thing" .. because why not, by that logic, why not allow illegal plays online as well if on the "real thing" sometimes those do indeed happen ?

Denis-George Constantin (playhunter) Hello! We run 3 monthly tournaments here. Casual, Intermediate and Open. For sure I will keep pip counting for Casual and Intermediate level, just as I use the clock with plenty of time. For Open I use the standard clock and I would like to have a check box with "hide pips", simply to play like live backgammon. Pip counting is a very important part of the game, is not an option to play easier or smoother.
Hub is the best site we have for tournaments, without any doubt. Maybe this is a easy option to add and I think is basic to play real backgammon online for some tournaments. Greetings.

Denis-George Constantin (playhunter) The answer to your first question is almost certainly 0. Can't really say about the second question, it's possibly still 0, but yeah, I can't say for sure, so I see your point.
